Bill, LO and even Gallagher are all responsible for running this paper into the ground, but no one more so than Bill. They all stayed too long. If really good reporters and editors move up to bigger papers, what does it say that none of ours have over the years? Had Jim been given more input, the picture may have been brighter--he deserves none of the blame for this mess. Jim was never afraid to make changes and try new ideas. Check ran off anyone with a journalism degree b/c his ego over having none couldn't handle the possibility of someone knowing more than him. There were/still are too many "underbosses" who have stayed too long. People are tired of their hot air, empty opinion columns. There are some good reporters but they are few and far between and their work product is tragically hacked-up by he who shall not be named. The hiring of new people with proper journalism training and new ideas over the years could have keep helped keep this paper relevant. What a tragedy for our community that the in-bredding has dumbed this paper down to the point people turn elsewhere for their news.

You could hear them going at it tooth and nail, Jim wanted to ditch the bastard, Bill thought he was the cat's meow. Bill truly is the idiot brother.
