A little bird told me that John Ernesto notified a female staffer in May that he didn't think he'd survive the month as a valued Reading Eagle employee. What did Ernesto do to instigate such rancor from the front office? it must be something that could cost the company tens of thousands of dollars. It can't be that he devotes so many hours of his waking day to the Berks Jazz Fest, for which he is paid a salary, independently, because the Eagle knows he has been doing that for years and years and years and years.

I heard he effed up the layoffs last year. There are about 5 wrongful termination suits pending and all of them are in jeopardy because that jackass didn't follow procedures in order to protect his lackey, Zeke. The only reason he wasn't shit-canned is because the plaintiffs then could use him as a witness. The wagons are circling, but it's too late. Ernesto will cost the paper more than Larry Orkus did. But at least he'll still have his gig with the Jazz Fest.

Ernesto may want to provide cover for the laid-off workers. He feels bad that they received no severance package, and he knows the front office was just bullshitting about how dire things were, that there was no money available to make these people whole. He knows he can be the big whistle-blower if they cut him loose.
