Dave Kline had a plan where online readers could pony up by the article, paying whatever they thought each article was worth. Then they figured out they would lose money on the deal.

Online readership is way down since thy trashed comments. But Harry Deitz is too big of a dolt to do a turnaround. There's nobody in the newsroom to call him out on it. They just nod their heads and suck away.

Luckily for the Reading Eagle management, a substantial portion of their readership still does not use computers. Everywhere else in the world, the online versions have emerged as the most important. I am sure they will figure that out before it is too late. This recent large investment in their print capabilities was a BIG mistake, unless they are only expecting to be a commercial printing company in the future?
