Reading Eagle Rants > 20 more layoffs coming June 30?
I never realized how horribly the delivery people are treated. They have to buy their own gift calendars, plastic bags, and even rubber bands, and if a customer complains about a wet paper, the carrier loses the money for that home's delivery for weeks. They are paid as contractors, so they have to pay all of the taxes the employer would. Poor schlubs!

Reading Eagle really makes out on this deal, so why don't they pass it on to the customers?

Uh, don't get your hopes up. It's clear you have NO clue as to what the situation is. Won't be any 20 layoffs-SORRY!
MARCUS
That Town Square blog by Zeke did the trick.

Nope. It's that Reading Eagle Rewards Card. Advertisers are signing on by the hundreds.
Truth teller
When June 30 comes and goes and no one is laid off, that should be the last anyone pay's attention to this "blaaaarrrgh." I mean, "blog."
Me
This isn't a blog. It is a discussion forum.

It is needed!

No one was laid off.
Jon Gosselin
You were. Ha, ha.

Ernesto could work full time on Jazz Fest if he retired. Oh yeah, he already works full time on Jazz Fest and makes more money off it than the Arts Council.
In the know
Word is spreading that the shareholders are demanding more profitability. The only way to cut corners is to let people go.
Supposedly, 20 more heads will roll at the end of the quarter. Only question is, who.
Talk is that John Ernesto will take early retirement and marketing will be folded in under Dave Kline and that department will be eliminated. One editing spot and one sports staffer also are targeted. Editorial will take a bigger hit, but where, no one knows.
