Jon Gosselin has not been handling himself like a father of eight kids facing a potentially expensive divorce and the loss of his livelihood in the recent weeks since he and Kate Gosselin announced their divorce. Jon has been hanging out on a yacht in the Mediterranean, spending tons of money, wearing Christian Audigier clothes (Ed Hardy), smoking, drinking, dating two women at once, and hanging out with Michael Lohan in the Hamptons.
Life & Style has reported that Jon is convinced Kate is hiding money that she has earned from her two books and speaking engagements from him. A friend of Jon's stated, "Jon says he found out Kate had been hiding about $100,000 in cash in the house."
“It's turned into an all-out war over money," Jon's friend says. "Jon says Kate's books and speaking engagements were based on their children and their relationship, so he rightfully deserves a cut. As far as she's concerned, this is money she's made by herself. She doesn't want him to get a cent of it.”
Mean while, during Jon’s vacation/business meeting in France with Hailey Glassman he went shopping at Gucci and reportedly recently spent $950 on a pair of shoes, and his NYC two-bedroom apartment reportedly costs about $5,000 a month.
“Kate controlled the money for the longest time in their relationship. Now I don’t think he’s worried about money at all. He’s taking a bunch of us to Las Vegas at the end of August. It’s going to be wild!” the friend says. Still, if he’s not “worried” about money doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want what he sees as rightfully his. Since Kate made and hid the money while she and Jon were still legally married, this means he should get a cut and, because of this, he’s planning to fight her for it through whatever means available to him, the friend believes.
