Your governor, Tom Corbett, decides gutting education is the way to go

Governor Tom Corbett unveiled his first budget yesterday, and it is a dandy. He is holding the line on taxes. Not just your taxes, dummy, but business taxes, because there will be no end to a single corporate tax break. And now Pennsylvania will spend more to put people in prison than to send them to college. The belt-tightening will be shouldered, if you will pardon the mixed metaphor, by local school districts (figure your local property tax will go up by an average $150 to make up for the shortfall) and colleges, because an uneducated electorate is the ideal way to keep the GOP in power. Perhaps the next proposal will mirror one in New Hampshire, where legislators want to limit the right of college students to vote.
State legislators will feel the brunt of Corbettomics, too, because their budget was cut by a whopping 1.4 percent.
There are priorities here.
