If the groundhog sees his shadow, but nobody sees him see his shadow, do we get any more winter weather or what?

Here is how thousands of county residents plan to spend Wednesday morning, at the crack of dawn:

Patty the Groundhog, Berks County's prognosticator, will take part in the fifth annual Miss Groundhog Day on Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the Pagoda.

Reading Mayor Tom McMahon, Councilwoman Marcia Goodman-Hinnershitz and Mike Reinert, president of Pagoda-Skyline Inc., will be on hand for the event, which is free.

The event is sponsored by the city and Pagoda-Skyline Inc. The Pagoda Cafe will be open for coffee and pastry.

I don't know about you, but I'd suggest heading up there tonight and camp out, so you get a good spot to watch the festivities.

Actually hate it when classes get canceled early in the semester. It messes up the syllabus in 2 of my classes. My film students won't get to see Chaplin's "City Lights" now, but Buster Keaton's shorter "Sherlock Jr." (By no means, a total loss.) Of course, there was no choice since students couldn't drive in today anyway. Plus, production of the next Front Street Journal will be held up until (probably) Thursday.
