Silliest. Reading Eagle. Front page. Ever.

It looks like something out of an Ed Wood movie, but this front page actually ran on March 12, 1998. The design and headline were personally approved by Charles M. Gallagher, the managing editor, who was loafing toward retirement while 69ing with WFMZ. The story deals with some vague threat to our planet and was retracted the next day by AP. Despite the staff's best efforts at way-out sensationalism, the P.M. edition still sold only seven copies that day.
