The story is huge, so huge that it prompted the Eagle to Photoshop fake crime scene tape aound the Pagoda, as if that is the prime scene for crimes of violence around Reading.
The annual crime report is out and Reading ranks as the the 37th most dangerous city in the USA. (Camden holds the top spot, a position it is unlikely to relinquish before the next asteroid hits.)
Said Troy C. Heiser, president of the city police union, who clearly has an ox to gore: "If crime is increasing and we are No. 2 to Philadelphia in the state, layoffs clearly are foolish. There have been three homicides and 10 people shot in the past 10 days and this isn't even the peak season. This isn't a good trend going into the holidays."
Peak season? Do elaborate.
